Reader Recoil

Want to bludgeon me about the head and neck for throwing my two cents? Well, lucky for you we've got a charming little comment form down below where you can call me all kinds of horrible names and positively tear my opinions to shreds. Because what would the internet really be without jerks cussing each other out over things that don't really matter? Just porn, that's what.

Cmon, give that clever one-liner backlashes of yours a shot.

I was shocked on your sudden leave with the anime scene (like everyone else) but it is good to hear that your back on your feet (or hands, you never elaborated) and writing again.

Well anyway, couple of guys I hang out are blindly bashing Final Fantasy Advent Children, deeming it overrated and mindless fanservice.(I know its irksome, I can hardly resist to kick them in the crotch) And you never got around to make a review for it on MAL, I just wanted to know what you have to say.

I thought you were dead man! You've been MIA for the past 3 months, glad to hear your still poppin pills.

April 25, 2009 at 4:07 PM

Hey its me Karen, I've been following your blog for quite a while now and I'd like just to tell you, I'm having a hoot reading your particularly offensive and down straight forward criticism that most critics lack.

Oh, and if not too much to ask, can you make more reviews for current anime's that has been springing out from the seasons greetings? I'd like to know what you have in mind for whats in store for us in the this years anime breakout.

OMG! YOu write so good, I mean it! I'm very impressed!! You should write professionally, you know for a living. You can consider me as one of Vendettared's loyal followers.

BTW cool pic. I laughed when I saw Master Chief drinking coffee, relaxing on his house like that. hahaha

May 6, 2009 at 6:45 PM

Interesting blog and outstanding reviews. Props to you, keep up!

May 8, 2009 at 6:11 AM

I apologize for the belated reply(I have been busy with life, believe it or not) but thanks to everyone's support (and of course, criticism), it may not be my catalyst for writing but it does give me a shove.

As for masteroftheuniverse's plea, I will get to it. I already had plans to make a review on it anyway, but it will have to wait. I have other matters to attend to.

And santaslittlehelper thanks for your undying love to post. Piece of advice, you might want to stay away from cussing, it gives away your identity as a pre-pubescent teen who's been offended, but doesnt have the right words to defend what he stands for. But at very least you outdid yourself throwing throwing the "moms basement" card, very clever of you.

Lastly, to everyone who's concern, I've grown tired of the Japanese cartoons, hate to break it out to you guys but I've got to come clean. I'm not making any reviews for anime's for a while, or even for a year or so. I dont see indulging in anime in my future anymore, frankly I've had about enough it.

Word around the block, you play Call Of Duty WORLD AT WAR online, and for a while I've been wondering what Red is like in the battlefield. Care to settle it dude?

This blog has been brought to my attention, and to be honest, I am very impressed. This might be common knowledge but you really are a good reviewer. Okay, I'll cut to the chase, we are curious if you are interested in joining our Anime Review Group, we our a humble clique that aims to provide professionally-written and unbiased reviews, we really think you'll fit right in. I've already read a handful of your 70+ reviews and I must say, each and everyone of them were informative and downright articulately-written.

We would very much be glad if you consider on checking our website (Nihon Review).

Before I forget, great blog and interesting disciples you have here.

May 13, 2009 at 7:18 PM

Hey vendettared, you got a great blog going on here, I especially like how you deliberately gave the readers their own section to shout feedbacks you... Curiosity bites me, do you have a facebook or myspace? No intentions, just like to you know more. =)

May 14, 2009 at 2:13 AM

GATSU here, dude I need you to make a review of Meet The Spartans. I watched it just yesterday, and boy it was a....... I rather hear what you have to say. It was really a waste of time (and hard drive). I feel nauseous just 5 minutes into the movie. And dont even get me started on the blatant corny gay jokes...

May 21, 2009 at 10:45 PM

I dont usually read long-winded reviews, but I've grown fond of yours. I dont get to find objective but also entertaining reviews anymore, but you put up with it like a clinic. WRITE ON!

May 22, 2009 at 1:54 AM

You can make a ton of money for what your doing, I suggest you get yourself hired, if your not already on the press. Consider me a fan of yours, cheers to more upcoming great reviews!

-Checkmite

Ever heard of look before you jump? I have it on my profile that blatantly says I am proud to admit that the only thing that I do, aside from writing, is fragging other people in Call Of Duty World At War (on my ps3). And might I ask, where is this block you "heard" it from? I never played with anyone before without the coat of anonymity. Just out of curiosity, do you hail from GFAQS?

-Red Ford
Thanks but no thanks for the offer. I write for myself and only myself. (do you think I should mention the fans too?) Besides I dont function well on groups, not a people person. To begin with, why do you think I keep a blog if I were?

-Ria
I've decided that I'll spare the sitting duck. No one knows whats behind my mask, and I like it to keep that way. I dont want to ruin the godly image you guys have for me. M'kay?

-GATSU
You just kneed me. Meet The Spartans was abysmal, and I dont want to remember it. But if you really insist and God may forbid me, but I'll start working on that.

-Everyone else....
Thank you for your ever so kind words.

May 26, 2009 at 3:39 PM

bloody hell! Where is FF:AC review you promised to write a long time ago? I've waited and waited. Then peed. And then waited again. And the results? Lo and behold, NADA! Cmon, vendettared. I know you have a lot going on your personal life but I'll be damn, if I dont read your review on AC. Work on it!

May 27, 2009 at 5:18 PM

Whats the fuss all about? This inexperienced guy's writing is dull and unimpressive, desperately trying to sound clever. Reviews are outrageously similar to a dad joke, pulling itself to make a joke we've all heard before.

To be fair, Vendettared is a good writer. But not as much as his aficionados make him out to be.

June 1, 2009 at 5:10 AM

Love your reviews dude

June 7, 2009 at 8:32 PM

Hello? Everyone here is dead? Vend hasnt written a review for a very long time now, I guess hiding the remote finally got to him, what goes around comes around, neh?

June 10, 2009 at 8:28 PM

Fret not, my vitals are still working, just havent gotten around to watch a movie, let alone review one. Fortunately enough, I felt compelled to spawn one for T4, feel free to scrutinize every bit nook and cranny of it.

June 11, 2009 at 12:05 AM

good to hear, we thought we lost you. btw you brought good points of Terminator btw, even better than any of the "critics" I've been following

June 13, 2009 at 4:16 PM

Notice how my blog has lately been plastered with screen shots of Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. This can only mean one thing: Season 2 has arrive and boy, is it saying it wont be leaving any time now. You may not care for it but the rest of the world does!

Season 2 is here. You better not miss it! Spread the word.

June 20, 2009 at 2:35 AM

I waited 3 years for this!! Unfortunately though, there is no dance at the end :[ lol @ young Haruhi and John Smith XD

July 6, 2009 at 4:42 AM

Expect a new episode once a month >.<

July 6, 2009 at 4:43 AM

Yep, this is haruhi alright.

THANK FCKING GOD! Ive been waiting for second season ever since I heard it was coming. This is definitely one of the only truly GOOD anime series out there. And when I say truly good, I mean one thats good in all respects and not just bearable or entertaining to watch...Something GOOD! Sadly thou only the anime community knows about this...I so wish Adult Swim would air this series, its an epic series if ive ever seen one. Also, its one of the few with a truly original storyline. Gotta love originality. Sadly its the crap shows like naruto, one piece, pokemon, and chrome shelled regios that make it big time. (Bleach was actually a good mainstream show, D Greyman was iffy, but ill give it points for how they made the villain's characters (fairly original in that respect, and Digimon was surprisingly dark for a childrens show, at least in a few of its aspects (A.K.A. the movie where nukes were launched)) As for other animes that are equally as deserving as Haruhi, I'm sad to say that they never got the same recognition...

In reference to the episode, Ive got to say It did not dissapoint me in terms of comedy, drama, animation, and sci-fi philosophy. The paradox explanation is logical in a way, and freezing someone for 3 years is much easier than actually leaping through time. As for Kyon's thought process, I still love the way that guy thinks... its like clickity clickity point proven STOP! SARCASTIC REMARK! Alright my description was kinda vague but It makes sense when u examine it...I think?

Anyway, good speculation on haruhi, vendettared!

July 6, 2009 at 4:45 AM

Fortunately I finished a majority of my anime (the only anime I'm really keeping up with that's weekly is Bleach and Katekyo Hitman Reborn) and so I decided to start this today so I haven't had to wait for three years!!! I really like this show and I'm very excited about the added episodes (no it's not part of the 2nd season like some said) are airing!!! I really love this show and it's something different out of the normal school setting shows, and actiony anime so it gives me something to look forward too. I hope we don't have to wait too long before more are released!

July 6, 2009 at 4:47 AM

yo Vendettared, are you still breathing??? We've been waiting for a transformers 2 review for ages..

July 9, 2009 at 4:39 PM

Ho, take it easy pal. Been playing too much reality.exe for a while that I didnt have the time to mess around with my blog.

I do now, though. And I'll be consistently making reviews again, twice a week. Sweats off, I'll catch up and ignite those flammable reviews you guys have desperately been fusing. I wont be leaving you guys hanging.....anymore.

July 11, 2009 at 6:21 PM

Shocking to see that you've started entertaining anime reviews again, I didnt think you actually took people's request seriously (speaking of which, now where the hell is my Advent Review?!!!)Anyway, I've never heard of cromartie before, but the way you make it out to be, it sounds really er..... intriguing? Hah, I really dont know what to say. The picture with the guy eating a bunch of pencils in one bite made me skip a heartbeat, I mean holy cow... Dont take this the wrong way Vendetta but if this turns out to be another hum-drum wrecking ball comedy, I'm blaming you for posting it here.

I'll keep you posted once I watched a couple if its early episodes.

July 23, 2009 at 3:51 AM

I didnt think I would do it, but some mysteriously enchanting but fearsome esper showed in front of my door, pointed a gun to my head (never occurred to me magical creatures would someday wreak havoc by using our modern day 9mm) and threaten the sanctity of my Barbie figurine collection, if I didnt have the gut in me to write a review for FF7 Advent. I didnt have any other option. Hell, I rarely do.

I look forward with reasonable confidence that after I did all of this, you would do me a favor and stop bugging me (for a while..because one way or another he would gallantly make a comeback, followed by the inevitable good-natured but sly raillery on how great his social life is, perpetuating the fantasy we all bloggers desperately need in order preserve our gradually diminishing breed.)

July 29, 2009 at 2:55 AM

Literate but cold and clinical is the makings of a conquistador. You sir, have a future in professional world of writing.

Mark me as a follower.

August 1, 2009 at 2:43 AM

I just watched Crash, your lastest review, thumbs up! Cheers, I really liked it. Didnt think Haggis can pull it off again.

August 4, 2009 at 3:10 PM

Just so you know, Crash has been on the market for quite a long period of time now...

August 6, 2009 at 4:18 PM

Just so you know, with all due respect, I dont give a tiny rats ass on what you say, sir.

August 7, 2009 at 7:28 PM

Well thats mature. All I'm trying to say is Crash isnt brand new. Its been with us for the past 5 years. But somehow you misconstrued it as an insult to your intelligence, and just flew off the handle in a heartbeat. But to each their own I guess, some people are just dense. I just didnt think you were one of them.

August 11, 2009 at 2:51 PM

HOLY SHITE, my friend! I finally got in your site, for months I (and probably anyone else) couldnt access your blog for godknowswhy. It's good to know that you didnt tired or sick in writing or lost your screws and blew it, frankly we dont know what we'll do without you.

As the first comment for a very long time, I'd like to mention another great review in Iron Man. Didnt look into it as much as you did though, props up.

Your article on the battle over ratings intrigues me especially your take on the standardized quality of the Filipino entertainment industry. Are you, by any chance, a filipino? Or have been in your past life?

September 12, 2009 at 6:04 AM

its been a while! I thought VR's blog went down the drain already!

September 14, 2009 at 5:05 PM

It did for a few days, thankfully I finally yielded my roughly implacable COD WAW-hangup and brought back this blog to life. From now on, stacking up those reviews for those mislaid days I was defunct, is the first thing I'll do.

Yes, that was a lie. I'll write when I fancy it.

September 23, 2009 at 1:17 AM

Is everyone dead?

October 20, 2009 at 7:50 PM

Well its been a month since anyone has budge, its pretty clear by now that vendettared finally found himself a social life, or he could be six feet under. The latter is more probable.

October 27, 2009 at 2:21 AM

Heya, I have not yet relinquish my position as the hegemonic ruler of the bottom dwellers in the social totem pole, nor do I have any plans to.

Spare me from any fabricated condolence, just know one thing, I will make amends for the loss incurred the past few months. Life's just being a real bitch lately.

November 6, 2009 at 12:31 AM

Aha, so your not dead after all! After what seem like an eternity of waiting, you finally crawled out of your Modern Warfare huh? Although, from the looks of it, everyone's cloud nine on Gossip Girl. Why? O, Why world? I guess whatever stops them from posting inept rants about WoW in g-faq boards.

December 15, 2009 at 2:06 AM

i believe dead Man on Campus is good for a laugh. As in ONE laugh. Sadly, the lonely laugh comes approximately 90 minutes into this 96-minute film (it felt much, much longer)

I realise that Dead Man on Campus is aimed at a college audience, but if this is the current level of wit of college-age audiences, then we're all in deep trouble. Neither Cooper nor Josh (who is--get this--attending on an academic scholarship!) show any evidence of having the requisite intelligence to graduate from high school, never mind get into college. Making matters worse, Gosselaar in particular is guilty of the most sophomoric television-sitcom mugging that I have seen since the glory days of Scott Baio. Most despicably, the film is graced with the presence of the most obnoxious character this side of Pauly Shore, one Lochlyn Munro (it's a long way from the Oscar-winning Unforgiven, isn't it Lochlyn?), who plays the theoretically suicidal Cliff. If I suspended my disbelief from Here to Eternity, I would not, could not believe that this hormonal and testosterone-laden Neanderthal could ever gain admittance to college.

Am I bitter about this film? A little. But mostly I'm depressed. All that money put into the hands of so many imbeciles. Reckon I better break into a show tune right quick-like.

January 25, 2010 at 2:44 AM

I have never ploughed through such unmitigated rubbish as this so called classic. It has been categorized as a "classic" by the loony arty farty so called intellectuals purely because it is gibberish, and unlikely to be appreciated by the common peasant.

January 29, 2010 at 2:25 PM

That's a nod to your Catch 22 review^

January 29, 2010 at 2:26 PM

I don't remember exactly when I read this book. I was in graduate school at the University of Michigan. I read it a second time very shortly after the first, and the second time around I made a written list of characters, like they tell you to do when you're in elementary school. Of course, I'd been familiar with the phrase "A catch-22" all my life. I have no idea why I picked the book up. Maybe I thought it would be a book chock full of wordplay? Or, more likely, I was browsing in a used bookstore and just bought it on impulse. I strongly associate Catch 22 with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I'd read years earlier. I'm not sure why, except that maybe they both deal with the subject of being a sane person in an insane place, a feeling that I certainly can relate to.

The book was incredible. I was a little distracted in places, like when the military thought the living doctor was dead, that were ripped off for the television series M*A*S*H. But the writing was fascinating. It seemed like the plot was jumping around while I was reading it, but in retrospect it had a very clear beginning, middle, and end. I can't overemphasize how brilliantly Heller structured the book. You feel like you are reading vignettes, and each one is funny. Suddenly you shake your head and realize that all of Yossarian's friends are gone, that the situation in the camp is significantly worse than it was at the beginning, and that Milo Mindebender is now running the world. How did all of this happen right under your nose?

The most amazing thing about this book was that I was led to laugh at the war for the first of it, and even though there are serious parts, and deaths, I was still pretty relaxed. The War is really just a backdrop for the satirical goings-on. Then when Yossarian goes back to Italy at the end, and sees terrible thing after terrible thing, the whole writing style changes. Things are described in detail, and there is no more satire or smiling. Everything becomes dreamlike and horrible. Then when Yossarian winds up back at the camp, the writing style changes back to the way it was. But the book reads differently from that point because I, the reader, was changed by what I saw in Italy, and the satire suddenly wasn't as funny as it used to be. At the end, when the General and his Smithers proposed their "odious" deal, the Italy chapter really made me feel the revulsion Yossarian felt.

I watched the movie a few years ago, and I recommend you do the same. It didn't do the book justice, but it was a good attempt.

lol at increase random ads popping in your comment box, are you not going to moderate these?

February 2, 2010 at 3:46 PM

Everyone give themselves a favor and dont watch Gamer. I admit, it had an intriguing plot yet it somehow turned out in to be everything you hate to see in a film (or everything a man wants to see): sex, tits, booms, bams, bullshit. Vendettared was being generous with his review.

February 6, 2010 at 12:40 AM

It seems were not on the same page with Step Brothers....

Unlike you, I found the movie a struggle to watch; there’s no odd-couple tension, no witty banter, just a prolonged, painfully unfunny game of one-upmanship…aimed at the lowest common denominator. Brennan and Dale routinely beat each other to a pulp with whatever is convenient: a shovel, a cymbal, a bike, their fists…There’s also the obligatory gross-out bodily humor, including Dale’s inability to keep his gas to himself during a job interview (hardy-har)…Ferrell and Reilly are essentially playing the same person, which is the movie’s fundamental, irreparable flaw.

February 12, 2010 at 3:16 AM

Well Step Brothers is obviously a hit-and-miss flick, clearly it just didn't rub you the right way. And true enough, the premise of Step Brothers is essentially a one-note joke, the film coasts by on the strength of its actors. The cast is anchored by the strong performances of leads Ferrell and Reilly, whose chemistry is just as strong here (if not stronger) as it was in Talladega Nights. Ferrell and Reilly adeptly capture the arrested development and dopey narcissism of their respective characters. (Dale is arguably the smarter and more seasoned of the two, although that's not saying much.)

This gave me a lot of thinking, maybe I should start a blog as well. It's good writing strokes and keeps my mind sharp the same way--heh. Peace out, dude.

P.S
Guards!Guards! is the best book in the discworld series. Then again, Pratchett's books are always very funny and endlessly creative. Heads will roll if you dont pursue that it. Heads will roll.
